STORM UPDATE FROM SUPERVISOR FOUST
July 4, 2012
Cooling Centers in Dranesville District
Most of the public facilities in McLean and Great Falls have not had power. Fortunately, we were able to get the McLean Community Center and the Spring Hill Recreation Center power restored on Tuesday afternoon. These sites are now available as cooling centers. In addition, Lewinsville Presbyterian Church is open as a cooling center. Also, the Town of Herndon has informed me that it is operating a cooling center at the Herndon Community Center.
My office is continuing to work with Dominion Virginia Power to restore power across Dranesville. We know that everyone without power is suffering, so we are committed to do everything we can to make sure that Dominion is on top of this situation.
Update on Falls Church Water
The 'Boil Water' advisory that has been in effect for some customers of Falls Church Water has been lifted.
Power Outages and Health and Safety Issues
Dear Dranesville Resident,
I hope that this message finds you safe.
In the wake of this historic “derecho” weather event there are many in the Dranesville district and throughout the County that remain without power, many intersections that are still dark and many routes still impassable. Some communities may still have "boil" water restrictions in effect.
For those of you whose homes are still without power:
Storm Aftermath as of 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 2
The City of Falls Church has issued the following adivisory update for Boil Water Advisory Update for Falls Church Water Utility Customers in Tysons, Vienna, and Dunn Loring http://www.fallschurchva.gov/content/newsmedia/2012releases/07-july/boilwaterupdate_2012july1.pdf.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Falls Church Water Utility advises water customers in portions of Tysons Corner, Vienna, and Dunn Loring to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution. Customers are advised not to drink tap water without boiling it first. Failure to follow this advisory could result in stomach or intestinal illness. Those in the Advisory Area should prepare to boil water at least through Monday night, July 2. This is the timing needed for proper testing. Families should be prepared. Instructions and maps of the Advisory Area are available on the City’s website, www.fallschurchva.gov/WaterBoil
June 29 UPDATE--We're glad to report that the dog has been reunited with his owner.
DOG FOUND
A very tiny Chiwawa dog was found roaming the streets around Leonard Road on Thursday, June 28. It has no dog tag.
If you are the owner or if you know who owns the dog, please have them call 703-790-8561, 240-485-8511 or 703-734-0402. If no owner is found, we'll have to drop the dog off at the pound. Please forward this information to any dog owners you know in Pimmit Hills.
Dogs in Fairfax County are not allowed to roam around unleashed without their owners. Please also make sure your pet has a tag so if they get lost, you can be contacted right away.
