Pedestrian & School Children Safety on Magarity Road - Status Update

Two positive updates –

1. We will get a walk signal on all four sides at the intersection of Magarity and Anderson Road. Please refer to the email below.
2. Regarding the entrance of K&R and its overlap with the pedestrian crossing – Since the school construction is expected to begin in a month, the K&R will be relocated to newly constructed upper parking lot on the other side of the school. Once the construction is complete the K&R will be moved back to the left rear of the building and a crosswalk will be put in.

We are working with VDOT on the main issue of a school crossing signal. Our supervisor John Foust is helping us. Please call his office Ph: 703-356-0551 or send email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. on this issue. Your feedback is very important.
Still gathering status updates on other items.

Mr. Gupta,

Concerning the questions from your phone message, we are developing a project with the goal of installing pedestrian signals on all approaches at the intersection of Magarity Road and Anderson Road. If no problems are encountered, implementation will likely be 4 - 6 months away, depending on scheduling and funding constraints. In answer to your second question, I am not aware of any proposed changes to the pavement markings on Magarity Road in front of the school.

Please contact me if you should have further questions.

Sincerely,

Don Moyer
