Pedestrian & School Children Safety on Magarity Road Quick Update

We have a meeting with the head of VDOT Arlington and Fairfax counties on 11/12/2013 to discuss the Westgate signal issue. We ran into issues communicating with the VDOT field engineer who felt that due to low traffic volume there is no need for a signal. A volunteer reached out to the VA Governor’s office and the Virginia Secretary of Transportation to make this meeting possible. We are not getting our positive hopes high yet, but remain optimistic and will know on 11/12/2013.

The crossing guard has signed the petition and she feels we need the signal.

Petitioner 100 was the property manager of Commons of McLean who is representing 577 units. So do we have 677 signatures? YAY. For the conversation we can keep it 100.

A volunteer helped create the mailing list to all houses on magarity for sidewalk. We stand at (3 YAYs). Still waiting on other signatures.

Supervisor Foust office has been a great facilitator; however we have requested Supervisor Foust to take a position on this petition and have no response from him as of yet. We should get a response on 11/12/2013.

Pimmit Hills Citizen Association has endorsed our petition and we have raised the issue with McLean Citizen’s Association (MCA). MCA Transportation representative is planning on attending the meeting scheduled on 11/12/2013.
