The PHCA Dispatch

Dranesville District Newsletter - October 2011

From John W. Foust, Dranesville District Supervisor: Dear Dranesville Resident, Welcome to the latest issue of the Dranesville Dispatch. Hopefully the surprise snow of this past weekend is not an early indicator of a rough winter. I am very pleased with the progress VDOT made last year with the snow removal process but I doubt that any of us are looking forward to putting them to the test again this winter.

In this issue, we report on a great deal of activity on a number of transportation improvements in Dranesville. I have provided a list of projects that were recently completed and those currently in progress. Also, I am pleased to report that VDOT’s temporary repairs to the damaged bridges on Beach Mill and Towlston Road will be completed soon.

This newsletter includes an article on a very informative and well-attended community forum on accessibility issues for aging seniors and people living with disabilities. We need to improve and expand senior services as our population ages. We are working with communities across the District on this important topic and I encourage you to contact us and get involved in this effort.

Also inside is an update on the Falls Church Water issue and an article about the Langley Fork Park Master Planning process. A public meeting was held on October 13 to brief residents and gather suggestions for future development.

We have many community leaders and great civic and faith-based groups in Dranesville and it is always a pleasure to recognize their accomplishments.

Please take a few minutes to review this newsletter to see what they are doing and for news, information on up-coming special events, and updates on projects in the District. If you see something that we are doing and you want to get involved, please let us know.

As always, I welcome your comments and suggestions on issues affecting you and your communities. It is a privilege to serve you and I thank you for the opportunity.

Best wishes,

John W. Foust
