It's coming: The Pimmit Hills community event of the summer--National Night Out this Tuesday, August 7 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Hileman Road near Friden Drive (map).
Held in towns all over the country, this annual event encourages neighbors to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside together in a stand against crime.
The Pimmit Hills Citizens Association is the host of our event and the fun starts at 7 pm. There will be cool popsicle treats, kids games, chalk art, a hula-hoop contest and the always popular ‘cake walk’ game.
Also, local businesses and organizations are invited to bring a table to showcase their services and products --- for free. So far, we've heard from a gourmet ice cream truck, a vendor selling milk and homemade cookies, the Pimmit Hills library and even a resident who will show his WWII jeep. Got something to showcase? Come and join us. Contact event organizer Carol Martz at vp @ pimmithills.org for more information.
Everyone in Pimmit Hills is invited -- homeowners and renters, families and singles, adults and kids, dogs and cats. It’s a great time to meet your neighbors! Our local police will also stop by and normally a Fairfax County fire truck or two.

What is National Night Out (NNO)? It’s a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch held on the first Tuesday of August every year.
NNO is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
NNO is an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation.
Please join us this Tuesday night!
