Pimmit Hill Citizens Association Community Meeting
September 4, 2012


The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.

June 2012 meeting minutes were accepted unchanged.

Treasurer’s Report
President Kinnane gave the Treasurer’s Report in Brad’s absence:  Balance in the accounts:  $5783.89 in the checking, 5414.41 in the CD, and Paypal account $114.72 for a total of $11,313.02.  

Vice President’s Report
Carol Martz reported that National Night Out had been a success with several hundred people attending.

Three-Year Director Report

Sarah Rock reported there would be an Open House on 9/17 at Luther Jackson Middle School regarding the 495 Express lanes.   She also announced that the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will hold public hearings regarding toll increases on the Dulles Toll Road to fund Phase 2 of the Silver Line Metro expansion to the airport. The hearing closest to Pimmit Hills will be 9/13 at Spring Hill Elementary School in McLean. The public can also submit comments online at www.mwaa.com/tollroad.

Environment Committee
Elizabeth Hall announced the planned Fall Clean Up day to be held on October 13 – 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. meeting at Olney Park.  There was a signup sheet and you could also register on our website under the Environment tab.

President’s Report
Mark announced the upcoming Pimmit Hills Day, September 22 from 11 to 3.  Pimmit Hills Day organizers Marie Davis and Sarah Rock shared that the following events/activities are scheduled:  Hamburgers and Hotdogs by the Lion’s Club, McGruff the Crime Dog, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, a Moon Bounce, Bingo, and a booth from the Tysons-Pimmit Library.

Guest Speaker, Lynne Corn, discussed Green home improvements.

Guest Presentation, Lesley Stone gave an update on the Save the Barn project.  

Approval of Budget for the 2012-2013
The new budget included the cost of an insurance policy to insure the Board against lawsuits.   The budget was approved.  

New Business/Announcments
The Tysons Pimmit Library to be renovated provided that the library bond referendum on the November 2012 ballot is approved by voters. – It is unclear if trailers will be provided during renovations. Two PHCA Board members met with library staff on 8/28.

Fairfax Neighborhood Enhancement Partnership Program (NEPP) grant proposals are due Sept 26. If anyone has any ideas to enhance Pimmit Hills, please contact the Board.

A new Shepherds Center for McLean/Falls Church has opened. It can provide rides, lunches and services to seniors. See http://www.shepherdscentermcafc.org/
 
Next PHCA Meeting will be October 4 with Bill Hard from LCOR. He will share their redevelopment proposals for The Commons.


Meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
